Michael Schmidt studied both History and Painting at the University of Toronto in Canada. He has worked as an artist since moving to the Twin Cities 30 years ago.

Michael’s collage technique consists of hand painted paper that is applied, removed, torn, glued, cut, scraped, and sanded. It is through the layering of images and exploration of visual history that the final painting is achieved.
